Creating Your Child’s Writing Habits

The Korean education method mainly focuses on multiple-choice evaluation that induces a set answer. I think that the educational method of solving multiple-choice problems is not suitable for fostering creativity in children. Studying in the way of memorizing only the contents of the test disappears in your head as soon as the test is over. This is similar in the process of preparing for the CSAT. For the CSAT, we study hard for a long time, but as soon as the CSAT is over, all the study contents disappear, and we hardly remember what we memorized even after a month or 10 days. Then I encounter a different way of taking the test in college. Unlike the familiar test of finding answers in multiple choice, the number of questions decreases, and most of them are changed to tests that require creative writing by writing down my thoughts and implicating various information.

Unlike Korean education, which practices to solve only problems within a set framework rather than having a wide range of thoughts, French education is very different from Korea. Most high schools and college entrance exams are said to be written according to the topic. Writing is a very important ability to get good grades because tests or assignments have to write according to a given format. In addition, writing and thinking skills are deeply connected. The text does not simply end with a good command of the sentence, but is the final result of being able to express what I thought in writing. Solving your thoughts well so that you can persuade the other person through the writing process requires logical ability and reasoning ability for future situations.

The Jewish way of education also says that creativity begins with reading and comes from writing. Writing is also a habit. It has great power to change the world as well as to move people’s minds through writing. You should let your child recognize that writing practice is fun and interesting. The first time I started writing was in my diary. When it was difficult to share the story in my mind with my parents, I wrote down my mind one by one in my diary. I wrote a diary when my chest was stuffy or upset, and when I felt good. Like this, I can write naturally if I start writing with a topic that I like rather than being told to do it. If parents want their child to practice writing, it is also good to read the child’s favorite topic or book and talk about their thoughts or write down the contents in writing. If you tell them the joy of learning first when you want to teach them something, the child will be able to start without much rejection.
